A Face

When painting something impressionist or representational there's always this side of you that wants to make it look real; but I think the best of these types of paintings have to be somewhat vague, spontaneous, and confusing. In this painting I was trying to focus primarily on the interactions of colors without adding too much detail. It's hard for me to quit adding and changing a painting; it takes practice. Here maybe the eye takes in 1/3 color, 1/3 shape, and 1/3 face.
9 x 12 acrylic on watercolor paper.
